July 2010 St George's Hospital Summer Ball 2010 - supporting HPN The St George's Hospital Summer Ball is taking on Friday 30th July at the Hurlingham Polo Club in Fulham. The event is organised by St George's (and HPN) Paediatric surgeons, St George's Doctors' Mess Committee and the HPN committee. All money raised will go towards HPN! March - April 2010 HPN Medical and Surgical Camps 2010, Nuwakot District The HPN 2010 team held 2 medical camps in Kharanitar and Deurali offering free healthcare to the local rural community. Medical consultations, medicines, eye checks, glasses were provided to over 2300 patients. In addition, a small pilot health awareness programme took place where the HPN team had an opporunity to speak to local villages' Mother Groups and to school pupils about topics such as safe motherhood and sexual health. Photos to come soon. The Surgical camp which offered free operations for simple surgical cases was once again held at Trisuli District Hospital. Over 150 operations were completed. The main cases seen were chronically neglected hydrocoeles, hernias as well as other lumps and bumps. Our doctors and surgeons were also able to help with emergency cases such as acute appendicitis and fractures. Photos to come soon.
February - March, 2010 HPN team arrive in Nepal to prepare for HPN 2010 Health Camps The first team of students arrive in Nepal to complete final preparations before the health camps begin on 15th March. November, 2009 Recruitment of Volunteers, 2010 Visit HPN are now recruiting clinicians, surgeons, anaesthetist and nurses to join us in our 2010 Visit. We are planning to run 2 medical camps and 3 surgical camps (including paediatric surgery, general surgery, and obstetrics and gynaecology) in March/ April 2010. October, 2009 HPN run Richmond Riverside, Saturday 17th October It was a fine Saturday morning for our runners to do their 10k run along Richmond riverside. We strapped on our timing chips and got off the busy and crowded start with mud flicking up from under us. All our runners completed the 10k, and with some fancy times. HPN want to give a big thank you to all those who sponsored our runners and supported HPN. It's not too late if you would still like to sponsor us retrospectively - click on donate. September, 2009 New HPN Student Committee Recruits HPN welcome our fresh recruits who will be helping us organise our next visit in Spring 2010. We would like to introduce to you Fiona Chadd, Meredith Clements, Roxanna Curtis, David Grimes, John Holgate, Jessica Jenkinson, Jemma Mason, Emma Ng, and Grace Piper. June, 2009 Fundraising event: HPN Evening of Classical Music II Our 2nd evening of classical music hosted by Health Partnership Nepal and SGUL. Our guest quartet include Neil Georgeson – Pianist, Natalee Jeremic – Violinist, Arun Menon – Viola, and William Burrows – Cellist. April, 2009 HPN complete their first medical and surgical camps in Nepal During March and April 2009 HPN ran their first set of camps including 4 medical clinics, and a 2 week long surgical camp. Over this period 11 doctors and surgeons, 1 surgical sister, and 16 medical students from UK helped set up and run the camps. We saw over 4000 patients and operated successfully on 80 patients.
February, 2009 HPN set of to Nepal to start their visit in rural Nepal. January, 2009 HPN run Epsom Downs The first annual HPN Sponsored 10k Challenge: Benn Gooch, James Matheson, Jay Thiagarajah, Jonathan Loukes and Gareth Escott take partin a 10k run, hosted by Epsom Oddballs Running Club to raise money for rural health clinics in Nepal. Evening of Classical Music at SGUL HPN host an evening of light classical music provided by a quartet of professional musicians on the 22nd January at St. George’s to raise funds for our upcoming pilot project.
