COVID-19 APPEAL
CASES SHARPLY RISING
SHORTAGE OF PPE
LACK OF OXYGEN
NO VENTILATOR CAPACITY
THE PROBLEM
The COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading across the globe since March 2020. Our Nepalese HPN Partners have been working relentlessly in hospitals with COVID-19. Cases have sharply risen in the last few weeks, as well as hospitalisations and fatalities. The true numbers are likely to be higher than those reported due to under-reporting.
Charikot hospital has treated 51 COVID-19 patients in the last week alone - Charikot Hospital only has capacity for 35 patients.
Staff are struggling to access appropriate PPE to protect themselves whilst working with critically unwell COVID-19 patients.
There is a lack of ventilators for severely sick patients.
There is a lack of oxygen for patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 - these patients also have the capacity to deteriorate very quickly.
