DISASTER RELIEF FUNDRAISING

LATEST NEWS

Nepal is currently facing a major humanitarian emergency following catastrophic flash floods that struck northern Nepal on 26 August 2026.

The worst-affected areas include Rasuwa and Nuwakot, with significant impacts also reported along the Trishuli River corridor and in neighbouring districts.

Entire communities have been affected, while roads, bridges, water systems, electricity and communication infrastructure have been severely damaged.

Many families have lost their homes, belongings and livelihoods. Others have been displaced or remain isolated because damaged roads and bridges are making access to affected settlements extremely difficult. Health facilities and essential services have also been disrupted.

The immediate priorities are therefore food, safe drinking water, emergency shelter, hygiene supplies, essential household items and medical support.

Although government agencies, the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Nepal Red Cross and humanitarian organizations are actively involved in rescue and relief operations, the scale of the emergency is substantial.

The destruction of transportation infrastructure has made it particularly difficult and expensive to deliver assistance to remote communities. Current humanitarian assessments have identified urgent needs for shelter, clean water, sanitation, hygiene supplies, food and dignity kits.

Additional support is urgently required to help vulnerable families during the critical emergency and early recovery period.
